A renewal rate needs at least 12 months of ICANN registry transaction reports. Because the minimum registration term is one year, nothing shorter can produce a meaningful figure, so we show none rather than a stand-in.

The trailing-year rate answers "did last year's new registrations stick?" — first renewals are typically the weakest, so this number runs well below the blended one. The blended rate measures the whole book: renewals against every 1–10 year term cohort reaching its anniversary, built from ICANN's term-split monthly reports, which publish about three months in arrears. Where a TLD has no term history we fall back to renewals against domains under management a year earlier and label it approximate.
